The crab is an interesting creature capable of living in water and on land. A unique characteristic of the crab is its ability to walk sideways.

About twenty years ago, I was involved in a severe car accident that resulted in the amputation of my leg and loss of vision. During the period when I was in orthopedic rehabilitation and learning to walk with a prosthetic leg, climbing and descending slopes were challenging for me. Walking sideways, like a crab, was a method that made it easier for me to ascend or descend difficult slopes, and I still use it today.

I was inspired to create this sculpture from a news report about building permits granted for a project on the coastline in Givat Olga, which in retrospect indeed harmed the habitats of various animals, including crabs. Thus, this work, which is also composed of polluting waste that can be found on the beach such as drink caps, represents a call for the preservation of nature and wildlife, in the hope that we can see them not only as sculptures.
