Hyena

Hyena | 2020
Iron wires, beverage cans, part of a spray paint canister, LEDs, a windshield wiper motor, control board, aluminum segment, door hinges

Size: 210 cm length/63 cm width/85 cm height

The inspiration for this work came from two sources:
The first was a news report about a hyena roaming the city of Modi'in and entering private homes.
The second was the novel A Russian Novel by the late Meir Shalev, which deals with the early days of agricultural settlement in the Land of Israel. In the book, the hyena represents a chaotic force that instills fear and disrupts people’s lives.

The sculpture was conceived from the outset as a kinetic work and was exhibited in 2022 in the group exhibition “Chaos” in Ramat Gan.
