The car accident in which I lost my leg and became blind happened while my parents were on their dream trip in the United States together with my uncle and aunt. When they received the message about the accident, my uncle decided to send back with them the souvenir he had bought that very day, a small grizzly bear figurine created by an artist on the west coast of the U.S., who makes bear sculptures from various materials.

The small sculpture, whose shape I learned through touch, became an inspiration for the bear sculpture I created.

For me as an artist, in every work I do I strive for perfection, while also accepting the imperfect sculptureI have created. In this piece, I felt that I succeeded in making a breakthrough in the process of constructing the sculpture’s paw, so that it would look authentic and also be able to support a large and heavy sculpture.
